CPA, CITP, CSPM Solve Services Founder

Expanding an entrepreneur’s vision with Veem

Accountant. Bookkeeper. Educator. Speaker. As a multi-hyphenate with four businesses under her leadership, Geni Whitehouse pivots between providing accounting knowledge to wineries at both CPA firm BDCo and her bookkeeping venture Solve Services, to creating training tools for her fellow accountants at The Impactful Advisor, to preaching the need for better client communication with her speaking endeavor Even a Nerd. With her glass so full, Whitehouse needs partners that can keep up with her, ensuring her work stays fast, simple, and effective. That demand for efficiency drove her straight to Veem.

Uncorking Opportunity

When Whitehouse first stumbled upon Veem back in 2017, she was looking to solve the problem of global payments for her bookkeeping clients. The wineries with whom she worked frequently needed to make payments to France for barrels and other winemaking essentials, and she uncovered a significant pain point in their processes.

“A barrel is a mission-critical, big-ticket item, and they have to have it on time,” Whitehouse explained. “When the invoice came in, my clients were literally stopping what they were doing and going to the bank to set up a wire.”

Beyond the disruption of business flow, this in-person banking experience was cumbersome on the accounting front. With international transactions taking days to process and no transparency into exchange rates, fees, and totals, reconciling the payment to the company took a significant amount of time-consuming investigation.

“There was a black hole with the wires. I was trying to figure out what was going on. We would have an invoice from a French barrel company, but we never knew what the end transaction amount was going to be,” Whitehouse recalled.

“Veem fits into all my businesses,” said Whitehouse. “It’s a seamless experience for all of my needs.”

Enter Veem and its global payments transparency and the issue was resolved.

“That’s the great thing about Veem for global payments: it tells you in the local currency what the payment is. I see it right then, and I know how to enter it into my system for the payment,” said Whitehouse. “It allows me to capture all aspects at the point I make the payment.”

“ I need a solution for accounts payable and receivable that works for all of my businesses and their distinct needs. Veem provides the transparency and flexibility to create invoices, handle recurring installments, and navigate global payments—all without extra fees. Plus, Veem grows with me, and as my businesses evolve, I can expand how I use its services. Veem truly is a one-stop shop for AP/AR needs.

Parlaying to Training

From that discovery, Whitehouse was hooked on Veem and began to uncover ways to apply its advantages to other ventures. In fact, when the pandemic hit, she saw an opportunity to ramp up its use with her online training company.

“My Veem use really took off with this new business that I launched, providing downloadable training resources. People were buying them online using cards, and I saw the chunk that came out with the fees,” Whitehouse noted. “I thought ‘There has to be a more cost-effective way to do this,’ so I took a closer look at Veem’s payments side, and I decided to implement and test it. It worked beautifully.”

Now Whitehouse has an initial payment made online to cover any licensing fees on her end for use of the content, and then she invoices via Veem for the remainder of the payment. She’s also looking to leverage a recurring invoice approach for her version of installment payments for those customers who don’t want to take on the entire cost of the training immediately.

“You can do it multiple ways, send a QuickBooks invoice or an invoice directly from Veem,” she shared. “Whatever business you’re trying to create, thinking about how to save in payment fees matters. The chunk that comes out is meaningful, and Veem can help.”

As all of her business endeavors evolve and grow, Whitehouse intends to continue identifying ways to strengthen accounting processes, and as she does, she sees Veem as a critical partner.

“My mission is to help accountants and customers apply technology tools to make our lives and that of our clients’ better, and Veem does precisely that.” “ I constantly tell accountants and bookkeepers to take another look at what their clients are doing to pay their bills and then to look at Veem. It’s a no-brainer for both global and domestic payments, saving time and money for all businesses.

Veem helps businesses save time and optimize cash flow by simplifying the way they send and receive payments domestically and internationally. Trusted by more than 500,000 users in over 100 countries, Veem uncomplicates the end-to-end AP/AR process with seamless integrations to leading accounting software, real-time tracking on payments and cost-effective, flexible payment options.
